Following/Unfollowing - Frequently Asked Questions:

Does Hummingbird have any Limits on Following?
Answer:
NO, Hummingbird does not impose any limits on what you do on Twitter. Twitter does have limits on what anyone can do per hour, day and overall though.

Am I able to control how many people Hummingbird Follows/Unfollows at a time?
Answer: Yes Hummingbird allows you to set limits to how many people it follows and unfollows. NOTE: Each time you log into your Twitter account the number of people you can follow and unfollow will reset. So if you log into your Twitter account and follow 200 people and then come back Hummingbird will allow you to follow another 200 people each time.

Can Hummingbird Follow from any page?
Answer:
Hummingbird Redux has the ability to follow from any Twitter page that has a "follow button" on it. This means any list, category or anywhere you would be able to follow someone directly from that page. NOTE: Different places that you follow people will change your follow back percentage. The best percentage for follow back is when you follow a persons followers.

Will Hummingbird track who it unfollows so it does not follow them again?
Answer:
Yes, Hummingbird keeps track of everyone that it follows, unfollows or who are mutual followers allowing it to avoid following the same people again. NOTE: Hummingbird does not have the ability to track who you follow or unfollow manually though.

Will Hummingbird follow and unfollow automatically on several accounts at the same time?
Answer:
NO! Hummingbird is designed to take away the repetitive actions you need to make building your accounts but it is not a totally automated program that will go from one account to another automatically and simply follow or unfollow at this time. It will sign you in and out and perform and track the automated features for you but instead of creating a spam program that simply runs on its own you are the key to it's success. You are the manager of the program in that you tell it what to do and it works for you. From our testing totally automated programs simply are a waste of time and money and puts your account at risk with Twitter these days.
NOTE: We have assisted maintenance function that does automate follow-back, unfollow for all accounts. This will allow you to set up which accounts you want to have this done and you can have all the accounts done automatically.

Currently all payments are made through PayPal. This allows us more flexibility and protects you in making your purchase.

Do you have a version for MAC?
Answer:
Currently we do not have a version for MAC. We have plans of releasing a new version first then we will make it compatible with other operating systems like MAC.

I purchased a version of Hummingbird in 2011 from Hummingbird2.com that did not have a license.
Answer:
The website Hummingbird2.com was stolen and another version created that was not a legal Hummingbird version. Unfortunately we cannot provide a license to customers that were deceived by the people that created this illegal version. We have since been able to recover the website so this challenge has been resolved. We do not support the illegal version though and can offer no resolution except to purchase the legal license for Hummingbird.

Tweets and Messaging:

Can I do automatic Tweets or Messages using Hummingbird?
Answer:
Our opinion of automated tweets and messages is that it is a waste of time and should be avoided. They are used by poor marketers and Twitter is cracking down on program makers and accounts that use them. Currently 5 program makers (including TweetAdder) that support automated tweets and messaging were sued by Twitter for assisting people in spamming Twitter.   We do not support spamming on Twitter and we focus on helping you build accounts faster so you can use them better. You can tweet from Hummingbird and interact with your followers better because of the way we design Hummingbird.

Troubleshooting:

Hummingbird is showing a mobile browser instead of a desktop browser and won't login.
Answer:
Twitter is recognizing that your version of Internet Explorer is out of date. Read more here. Update to the most current version of Internet Explorer. If that doesn't resolve your issue. Go to Settings - Browser Setting - Change To Version 11. Hummingbird will restart and will revert to a standard browser.

Hummingbird followed people but my numbers have not changed.
Answer:
Sometimes you might notice that Hummingbird just followed a lot of people but your numbers are still the same. You can click on refresh on the toolbar (just before Sign In) and it will refresh the webpage. If this does not work and you seen Hummingbird follow people then Twitter is having an issue updating the numbers correctly.

Hummingbird is unable to log in to my Twitter Account.
Answer:
Make sure your Twitter account is added correctly in Sign-In - Add/Edit Twitter Accounts first. If you have it entered then simply delete it by right clicking on the account and selecting "delete". Then check your log-in information by manually login in to Twitter to make sure you are not having an issue with your account. If everything checks out then re-enter your login information using Sign-In - Add/Edit Twitter Accounts and try it again. NOTE: If you were previously logged into another Twitter account and have been surfing off from Twitter then you will need to click Sign-In twice to bring you back to Twitter and then to log out and back into your other account.

I am getting drop down errors on Twitter when following or using the program.
Answer:
The drop down errors are provided by Twitter that tell us when they have a challenge with a specific function. Most common errors you might see are:
1) Had trouble following a person and they ask you to try again later. This can simply be ignored by clicking on the x provided with the error. Sometimes this happens because the person we are trying to follow is suspended.
2) You have followed your maximum number set by Twitter for hour, day or account. When this error happens make sure you stop the program from following anymore and you will need to either wait for people to follow you back or you will need to unfollow some people to adjust your follow to follower ratio.

Hummingbird seems to be slow or non-responsive.
Answer:
Sometimes Twitter can have a challenge with their website and if Hummingbird is having a challenge loading a webpage it can provide you a script error. Most of the time you will be able to just continue working but sometimes the page can become slow or non-responsive. If this happens simply close Hummingbird and restart it to clear the temporary files and reload everything.

I set my follow limit to 300 but it appears that Hummingbird is only following 100 people at a time.
Answer:
Twitter sometimes has an issue with the more button on their site. This will limit your following to 100 per page. To easily get past this and increase your results when the "more" button is not working correctly on Twitter, simply go to another persons followers and start the "Follow All" process again. Hummingbird will stop following automatically when your specified number is reached.
UPDATE 7/18/2014: We just updated the program and now you can simply load all the pages you want hummingbird to follow or unfollow by scrolling down the page for a minute or two. Then click on unfollow or follow all and Hummingbird will go through them all. The program is following all with no problem and if you have a big account and want to unfollow this process works best on forcing Hummingbird to check thousands of people.

I am getting an error when first attempting to load Hummingbird after my purchase.
Answer:
You will need to have a windows system with the current Microsoft.NET Framework 4 which is available directly from Microsoft here NOTE: Microsoft Framework is what allows 3rd party applications to run on Microsoft Windows. Even Windows 7 can be installed with an older version of Microsoft Framework. It is very easy to install and is a good idea to keep this updated to allow you to run programs easier on your windows.

I have had a problem with my Computer and need to download Hummingbird again.
Answer:
Hummingbird is always available to download from here.

Answer:

Tips on How to Use Hummingbird Better

Twitter Following Limits - There are no limits for Twitter under 2000 people that you follow. When you reach 2000 following Twitter imposes a 10% follow to followers limit. This means at 2000 you will need to reach over 1800 followers before Twitter allows you to follow more people. To get past this faster make sure you follow from a Twitter Accounts Followers list to improve follow-back percentage. You should be able to get close to a 50% follow-back percentage from the Followers list. This Following/Follower ratio will continue no matter how many people you have over 2000. So at 3000 you can have 300 people over and so on. To improve the follow-back percentage even more follow less people in the followers list and spread out the people you follow from. DO NOT keep following from the same accounts list because your follow-back percentage will get worse.

Increase your Activity and Results - People look for personal activity on Twitter. Twitter itself takes this into consideration when reviewing accounts as well. Recommend that the first thing you do when signing in to your Twitter account is tweet something personal (NOT A LINK). Then go and follow-back people to make sure that you get the easy ones. Next go and check the @ Connect for any discussions that are directed to you. Anyone that retweets one of your tweets should be thanked to inspire them to retweet more. Personal interaction and response to people is important in building your accounts for success. Then check your Direct Messages if desired or simply delete them all. Now you are ready to follow and unfollow as desired or required. Before finishing make sure to tweet again and now you should have interacted with everyone and worked on building your account.
